The "Run for Play 5K" is a family-friendly community run/walk to raise money for a new inclusive playground at Miller Hill Sand Lake Elementary School. Whether you are a seasoned runner or joining for fun, every step helps create a space where all children can play, explore, and thrive. Run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines. This is a family‑friendly run/walk that welcomes all ages, all abilities, and all paces. Your participation in this event directly supports the new playground our community will enjoy for years to come. If you would like to support the cause without racing, you can register as a "Playground Booster" and join us at the event, or cheer us on from home. Join us this April as we move toward a brighter, more playful future. (Note: This race is not chip timed.)

*There will be prizes for the top three overall male and female runners in the 5K, generously provided by Fleet Feet. The top male and female runners in each age group of the 5K will also be recognized.*

In addition to our event, the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office will be there with their Operation SAFE CHILD program, providing free ID cards with fingerprints, photos, and biographical data for children under 18.

Registration Deadlines:

Early-Entry Registration Deadline: Monday April 6th (11PM) for a guaranteed t-shirt and early-entry pricing

Online Entry Registration Deadline: Extended to Friday April 24th (6PM)

Day of Race Registration will be available (please bring cash)

Parking:

Parking is available at the school, with overflow parking available at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts (2880 NY-43, Averill Park).

DO NOT park on the access road behind the school or at the Home Room Lofts.

Tshirts:

Participants must register by 11PM Monday April 6, 2026 in order to receive an event shirt.

5K Age Groups:

14 & under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80+

5K Route:
